2016-2017 Cardinal Bea Centre Scholarships
The Cardinal Bea Centre for Judaic Studies at the Gregorian University in Rome is pleased to announce scholarships to students who will register for the 2-year Postgraduate Degree Program in "Judaism and Jewish-Christian Relations" for the Academic year 2016-2017. Each scholarship amounts to Euro 9,000.00.
Taking the name and inspiration from the far-seeing vision of the Jesuit Augustin Bea, the principal promoter of Vatican II's Nostra Aetate, the Cardinal Bea Centre is dedicated to encourage the understanding of Judaism and the exploration of Jewish-Christian relations, in particular the development of a Christian theology that takes into account its Jewish roots.
The 2-year Postgraduate Degree Program at the Cardinal Bea Cenre includes courses in the areas of Judaism and Jewish-Christian Relations, as well as interdisciplinary courses in Jewish-Christian History and Culture using the resources of the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Pontifical Biblical Institute, and the Pontifical Oriental Institute. Scholarship holders will receive library privileges and other services granted by these institutions.
Application requirements: Applicants Italian or from abroad, have to be maximum thirty years of age. Admission requires a BA degree and sufficient knowledge of the Italian language (Italian language courses will be held at the Gregorian University before the beginning of the academic year). The Cardinal Bea Centre may assist scholarship holders with housing arrangements in Rome.

- A Personal Statement (approx. 500 words), explaining motivation and expectations with regard to the scholarship.
- A Curriculum Vitae, giving details of education and language skills and any information the applicant considers relevant.
- A copy of identification
- Academic transcripts obtained during previous studies.
- A letter of reference from an Ecclesiastical or Academic authority.
Application deadline si May 30, 2016. A decision will be announced by June 15, 2016.
