The PhD students of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology in Rome (PIAC) are organizing an international conference to highlight new research by doctoral students and recent postdocs on Christian Archaeology, Late Antiquity, and Early Middle Ages.

The conference aims to stimulate discussion about ongoing or recently concluded research by doctoral students on literary, historical, and archaeological issues from the 3rd to the 10th century. These can be in the disciplines of archaeology, epigraphy, iconography, history, topography, architecture, archaeometry, art history, early Christian literature, liturgy, hagiography, museology, and more.

HOW TO APPLY
Proposals for papers or posters to present at "Research of Christian Archaeology, Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages" will be accepted from current doctoral candidates or recent postdocs (2014 to the present). The posters will be on view for the entire duration of
the conference. Applications will be accepted until October 6th, 2017 at the address dottorandi.piac@gmail.com. Please use the form provided downloaded from the website when submitting. Successful applicants will be notified by November 15th, 2017.

DATE AND LOCATION
The International Conference "New Research on Christian Archaeology, Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages" will take place in Rome at the PIAC (via Napoleone III, 1, 00185 – Roma).
It will be split up into three afternoons of two sessions of three 20-minute lectures.

A special rate for accommodation will be provided to all participants. The Pontifical Institute for Christian Archaeology is located in Via Napoleone III 1, very close to the Termini Station in Rome (where both the subway lines stop) and easy to reach from the city airports.
