Visiting the Catacombs at Naples

The Christian catacombs in Naples open to the public are located in the Capodimonte area north of the ancient city walls. These sites are maintained by the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology at the Vatican, which appoints an Inspector for Catacombs in the Campania region (Dr. ). Scholars and visitors should contact the Secretary of the PCAS at its Rome office for special permits to study these and other catacombs in the region.
